colourful doodle for Holi

Google is celebrating the Indian festival of Holi with a colourful doodle. Unlike some of the most recent doodles, it isn’t animated, interactive or embedded with a video.

The Google doodle shows a pichkari or spray gun splashing colours. It is quite simple with a white logo splashed with colors around it. It is the fourth time that Google India has celebrated Holi with a doodle. Prior to this, we’ve seen Holi doodles in 2001, 2010 and 2011.

Holi is the Indian festival of colours that celebrates the triumph of good over evil. The festival celebrations begin with a Holika bonfire on the eve of Holi, followed by a carnival of colours the next morning including coloured water, dry powders and water-filled balloons.

Last week, Google celebrated the International Women’s Day with a new video doodle. The video gave a glimpse of women and girls from different countries and areas, across the world wishing everyone on the International Women’s Day in their respective languages.
